WSJ Streaming Stories

Client: The Wall Street Journal, MarketWatch, and Dow Jones

Role: Lead UX/IA architect

Launched: phase 1 – Dec 2012

About: The challenge of this project was to conceptualize how a “stream” of content could work on WSJ and network for both desktop and mobile experiences. A stream is a single page (or mobile view) that a reader can leave open and watch the news develop in real-time (without reloading). The stream includes headlines, articles, breaking news alerts, markets data, documents, photos, Twitter tweets, and generally any new information about the subject or event. My team used WordPress CMS which allows the editors to quickly setup and manage a stream. Streaming Stories project would be the first WSJ product to use the new responsive/intentional design framework as well.
